/ MISSION

ART does not intend to intervene in emergency situations caused by humanitarian disasters but to work alongside communities and their leaders in those cases where the government has shown a clear wish of involving the whole community in an active process of rebirth. In order to correspond with the above intention, ART favours integrated interventions to support processes where communities play an active role in identifying their needs, choosing their own development model and priorities.

ART does not underestimate the importance of material interventions (building of schools, sports fields and social centres such as libraries, multimedia centres for youngsters, creation of small and medium-sized enterprises, networks of rural banks, health facilities and services), but aims to promote these interventions as part or result of an active development program shared with local communities in which there has been effective investment in human capital training (initial and continuous post-graduated courses, technical and professional training, local administrators and elective’s continuous training and media manager’s training).

/ STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

+ To support and attend the African people’s ambitions to reach a civil and economic rebirth and to become involved with the lives and history of these communities by promoting an endogenous, self-determined and sustainable development;

+ To organise and promote research-action in the areas of education and training, editorial, artistic, communication as well as any other initiative aimed at supporting the cultural, civil, environmental and economic regeneration of Africa, by always trying to create a model and to establish transferable practices to other fragile regions all around the world.

/ WAYS of WORKING & INSTRUMENTS

The association develops its mission through the granting of assignments and donations from appropriate sources: ethical organisations or individuals who freely decide to contribute to African life and development through the work of ART.

ART's first mission was conducted in Burundi, thanks to the small but vital contribution of the Lombardy Region. This preliminary exchange, of which there follows a video and of which you can find a detailed report (unfortunately only in Italian) in our
blog, led to the design of 6 integrated actions which could allow the communities to build their future with their own hands.
